Modern Warehouse – How to Eliminate Errors and Reduce Costs by up to 80%
Effective warehouse management is a task that requires precise execution. Synchronizing all processes in real time is often difficult to achieve.
Recently, our focus has turned to eye-tracking technology. It is the only method that can be used for objective and precise recording and analysis of visual behavior. This technology allows us to look at the time required for business operations from a broader perspective.
We are beginning experiments in the area of graphical user interface research for applications, focusing on intuitiveness and the time needed to complete business operations. For this purpose, we are using Tobii Pro Nano – a small, portable eye-tracking module adapted for use with mobile devices via an additional stand. The device records gaze data at 60 Hz and is designed for fixation-based studies.
It’s worth noting that employees increasingly interact with more advanced digital machines that handle larger amounts of information. As a result, eye tracking is regularly used to optimize work environments.
Our goal is to ensure synergy between hardware and its operators by identifying distractions and wasted process steps. Ergonomics is very important in many repetitive processes such as warehouse app usage or driver operations, directly impacting efficiency. I am curious whether eye-tracking technology will allow us to see the company through the eyes of its employees, providing better understanding of their work environment and the human factors affecting their performance. I hope to gain deeper insight into employees who perform daily tasks, make decisions, and interact with their environment. We are starting these studies at the prototype development stage. The results will help identify best skills and practices. This is an opportunity to highlight areas for improvement and enhance workplace safety by understanding at which stages human errors occur and their root causes.
We are preparing a large series of experiments — interested parties are welcome to contact us.
We will share the results of our research soon.
