Nowa Elektro Private Sp. z o.o. is one of the largest electrical wholesalers in Poland. It has a continuously growing distribution network with 36 company-owned and franchise branches located throughout the country. The company offers a wide range of leading industry brand products, with 130 suppliers in its permanent offer and over 120,000 products.
At the logistics center in Zgierz near Łódź, there is a high-bay warehouse covering over 4,500 m² and a cable yard of approximately 6,000 m². From there, goods are dispatched to sales points and customers across the country, using both external forwarding companies and the company’s own fleet of delivery vehicles.
Nowa Elektro invests in solutions to improve logistics processes in order to continually enhance service levels and ensure daily availability of goods for its customers. With this goal, the company decided to implement a WMS-class IT system to optimize all warehouse management processes. WMS OPTIpromag® replaced the previously used warehouse management solution, an ERP extension, which proved insufficient and did not meet the client’s business needs.
The WMS OPTIpromag® system is used in the distribution center in Zgierz and operates the warehouse using barcode scanning technology. Thanks to this method, the software supports warehouse transfers, optimizes processes, and reduces time consumption in warehouse operations. Our solution has been integrated with the Asseco ERP master system via a dedicated automatic data exchange mechanism.
The WMS OPTIpromag® system supports warehouse processes from external receipts, through placing goods in storage areas, to releasing goods to customers. As part of goods deployment in the warehouse, dedicated algorithms have been developed to optimize processes related to stock picking zones and managing the release queue. Goods are issued in four scenarios: e-commerce, cross-docking, replenishment, and customer delivery. Each has specific characteristics that have led to the creation of dedicated picking routes and editions. To ensure full inventory accuracy in the system, all warehouse movements are carried out using processes on mobile devices.
It handles the processes of issuing cables and wires, with particular emphasis on cutting and winding them onto logistic carriers such as drums. This solution optimizes work organization by providing the correct source materials, determining the cable/wire length to be cut, and transferring the prepared materials to the issuing zone. These improvements have resulted in a 20% reduction in the time required to perform these operations.
