Onninen grows stronger thanks to the digitization of processes and the full automation of Logistics

Onninen is a nationwide network of wholesalers, which is one of the world’s leading suppliers of technical materials intended for, inter alia, for construction companies, installers, shops and wholesalers. The company is part of the K-Group – a pioneer in the Finnish trade industry and an international leader in Northern Europe, which operates in 8 countries (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus) and employs 41,000 people.

The development of the Finnish company Onninen, operating since 1913, led to the launch of a modern Distribution Center in Teolin (near Łódź), from which products are delivered to a network of 36 branches located across various parts of Poland. Onninen’s Central Warehouse is constantly supplied with new technologies because the company’s logistics aim for full automation and digitization of processes.

System implementation

To improve transport processes, Onninen replaced its existing solution with the modern TMS FALCON system. The software primarily ensures short delivery times to designated locations and enables quick responses to orders by transferring data across the entire vehicle fleet (over 150 vehicles). OPTIDATA also integrated the new solution with the SAP system.

“The implemented TMS Falcon system at Onninen primarily automates processes related to providing our customers with full information on the status of their shipments, electronic delivery notes, and SMS codes for picking up deliveries at construction sites. The process of handling and circulating documents confirming the receipt of goods by the customer has been fully improved thanks to the digitization of the delivery note: the possibility of electronic signatures and verification of collection authorization through PIN code entry. The software also enables vehicle and route tracking – track & trace. As a result, routes have been optimized, and thanks to the use of Emapa products, our drivers are properly navigated,” explains Michał Kośna – Transport Manager at Onninen Polska.
