Mlekpol - OPTIDATA increases the efficiency of the new packaging warehouse at the MLEKPOL Dairy Cooperative in Grajewo.

Mlekpol Dairy Cooperative (SM Mlekpol) is one of the leading producers of milk and dairy products in Poland and Europe.

The company has been operating for over 40 years, and its products are manufactured in 14 modern production facilities. 30% of Mlekpol’s products are exported to over 100 countries across 6 continents. The company’s oldest facility is the production plant in Grajewo, which processes over 505.5 million liters of milk annually, accounting for 28% of SM Mlekpol’s total milk collection.

In connection with the commissioning of a new packaging warehouse, a decision was made to implement a WMS system by OPTIDATA. The launch of the software in these areas was intended to support the management of the high-bay packaging warehouse for two production departments: UHT and the Butter Plant. The implementation of the new solution began in February 2020 and started with the verification of labels used by suppliers delivering goods to SM Mlekpol. A significant number of suppliers used GS1 standards; however, the labels they provided contained inaccuracies (e.g., missing FNC1 characters or incorrect lengths of GTIN/GLN/SSCC numbers), which had to be properly corrected.

One of the main objectives of implementing the WMS system was to launch all key warehouse processes – starting with external receipts, GS1-compliant labeling, through the placement of goods in the warehouse, handling of logistics unit/batch blocks, execution of issues and returns to/from production, and ending with the picking and dispatch of goods to other SM Mlekpol facilities.

As part of the implementation, integrations were carried out between the WMS and the SAP and TMS Falcon systems, as well as with the mobile racking automation in the warehouse.
